A Mouse Evaluation Framework for Fitts’ Test
نویسندگان
چکیده
This work primary objective is to develop an evaluation framework for studying bidimensional Fitts’ law applied to constant and variable gain mice. The authors, following the ISO9241 recommendations, will introduce an implementation of that framework. Suggestions about interesting tests to be performed and studies will be discussed (e.g. limited footprints tests, modification of the Fitts’ law including the variable gain factor). A complete introduction about Fitts’ law and related studies will be also presented.

Towards a standard for pointing device evaluation, perspectives on 27 years of Fitts' law research in HCI
This paper makes seven recommendations to HCI researchers wishing to construct Fitts’ law models for either movement time prediction, or for the comparison of conditions in an experiment. These seven recommendations support (and in some cases supplement) the methods described in the recent ISO 9241-9 standard on the evaluation of pointing devices. In addition to improving the robustness of Fitt...
متن کاملFitts' Law with a Virtual Reality Glove and a Mouse: Effects of Gain
The effects of gain on target acq uI sItion using the classic FillS' law paradigm with a mouse and a virtual reality glove were tested. The mouse was significantly faster and had significantly lower error rates. For both devices , increased gain decreased movement times. Errors and movement times increased for both devices as the index of difficulty increased . Target entries were found to be s...
متن کاملExploring Fitts’ Law in Web Browsing
As one of the most influential laws in human-computer interaction for decades, Fitts’ law quantitatively models human pointing behaviors. However, the majority of Fitts’ law experiments have been conducted in a laboratory environment, which lends doubt to its validity in a real-world GUI (Graphical User Interface) context. This paper attempts to stresstest Fitts’ law in the “wild”, namely, unde...
متن کاملEvaluation of antidepressant activities of rose oil and geranium oil in the forced swim test in mouse
Depression is one of the most common psychiatric disorders that may result in significant consequences in active population of the society. In traditional manuscripts there are many indications about the antidepressant effects of rose oil, but so far no scientific research has been done about this subject. The purpose of present study was to determine the antidepressant effects of rose oil and ...
متن کاملAn Evaluation of Different Input Techniques for a Tabletop Display Using Fitts’ Reciprocal Tapping Task
User performance with a tabletop display was tested using touch-based and mouse-based interaction in a traditional pointing task. Dependent variables were throughput, accuracy, and movement time. In a study with 12 participants, touch had a better performance with average throughput of 5.53 bps in comparison to 3.83 bps for mouse. Touch also had a lower movement time on average, ranging from 40...
